There are 4 steps to achieving the correct 'Electric White' finish. step 1 primer, step 2 off white base layer, step 3 mid pearl layer, step 4 clear coat. This kit only contains steps 3 and 4. Step 2 (the base layer) is essential because it provides the solid white colour. Step 3 is translucent and on it's own will not cover any chips or scratches. If you touch in a chip that has gone down to the metal you will see the colour of the metal through the paint. You must have the base layer to do the covering first. All the pearl layer does is add the metallic flakes element to the finish. It has no 'colour' in it at all. So on it's own with the clear coat it's practically useless. I bought the off white base layer at a local paint supplier for £5 and when you use the kit supplied pearl and clear layers it gives a perfect match. Would have been nice if the base layer was included for the price. The 'Electric Orange' kit is also missing the essential base layer as well.
